Ademola Lookman

When Leipzig wanted to sign him last summer?

I don’t remember him saying he wanted to leave or handing in a transfer request.

I’m not picking on you intentionally, I just notice there is this negative narrative that follows this lad around in comparrison to others. With little evidence.

Whats the difference between him and Dowell, both went out last year on loan and did well, both have been linked with moves away.

It’s a question worth reflecting around and why one has this negative narrative and the other doesn’t.

I’ve been one of the biggest fans of Mola and backed him all the way. Still do. When the Leipzig brass have said Mola wanted the move it’s likeley true though.

How do you know, you don’t and you are wrong as per.....
Without Mola saying it directly, which he would be crucified for, this is about as clear as it’s going to get. Things may have changed but I doubt it given his lack of minutes.

Their manager Ralf Rangnick said earlier this summer: "We want him back and he wants to come."

Dont want him to leave and think he can become something special but if he's not going to do what Marco wants and contribute to the season, we may as well sell him and get in someone else.

If he does go though, we need a massive sell on clause.

I’m not having a go mate, I’m really not.

This is a broad opinion I’ve felt on Ade for a while, which might explain why I am a bit defensive of this lad and maybe a bit aggressive, so apologies if some of my posts have come across like that to you and @ijjysmith

But in my personal opinion, there has been reporting approach to Ade to paint him in a certain light as an agitator at the club, out for money and greedy trying to force a move away. He has never handed in a transfer request and been described as a top professional.

Yet that narrative exists and it has begun to follow him around, alter his perceived public persona and how people view him - unfairly in my view. It’s very subtle but exists. It’s like what Raheem Sterling was talking about comparing the reporting of the young black footballer who bought his mum a house and the young with footballer.

I say this because looking at him or say Dowell or Davies, they are reported on completely differently. Dowell and he have done exactly the same things, gone on loan and did well, yet Ade is the one with a negative persona because he did brilliantly and the other team wanted to keep him.

In my opinion there is something very subtle going on around the narrative of this lad, similar to the stuff Sterling pointed out. I’m not calling anyone who disagrees with me that I think he’s a great player a racist etc, but I would ask people to reflect on the subtle narrative of what is reported on the lad and how that influences our perceptions of him. Then ask has he actually demanded or even asked to leave the club, before we think he is an agitator, greedy want off etc.

Any how, I’ll leave it there, just something I’ve noticed in the reporting narrative of the lad that maybe has influenced people’s perceptions of him, don’t like it but ultimately my own opinion.

Loving the slight call of racism in this utter absurd ramble.

Here is our racist manager calling him out.

Asked what Lookman needs to do in order to hold down a place in the Everton starting XI, Silva said: "He has to be the same Lookman everyday.

“He has to be the same Lookman that has that desire.

"We know what his quality is and you know I believe in his quality since the first day I saw him so it has to be same Lookman everyday with the same desire everyday.

“He needs to understand what the coach wants coming from him, and any winger in our model, because, after that, the quality he has.

“He is a young football player but, being honest with you, I expect Ademola to be on a different level already this season.

“I keep believing, 100%, in his quality as a football player, there are no doubts about that, but what I want to see coming from him is the same desire coming from him, each day, to achieve that, to reach that level he wants and the level I believe he can play at."

Count how many times he mentions the word desire, strangely doesnt once mention his skin colour tho.

To be clear I’m not calling individual posters racist. I’m pointing out in my opinion there is a narrative around this player that projects a negative persona around this lad that doesn’t directly coralate toward his actions.

You spent last summer calling him a rat or rat fink, before any of those comments, what prompted you to that and not say Dowell or maybe Gomes this season if as there is a narrative of wanting to join Spurs. Again I’m not calling anyone or particularly you racist. Just highlighting in my opinion, the media narrative has painted this lad in a particular light, that has influenced how people see him.

It’s eady to do you describe my post as ramble, which immediately frames it, if I describe your response as narrow and naieve it does the same, it influences subtle perception. I’ve noticed this in reporting of Ade by the media and I do think it has had an influence.

I have no problem with the manager giving any player a rocket he’s given a few this season not just to Ade.

Again this my opinion, but I’d ask people to reflect on the point I’m making perhaps a bit deeper, before sticking him with the agitater, greedy wants out label and look at his actions and compare them with others.

I have a lot of time for the lad based on this.

"Im not calling you racist, but I think you dislike him cos hes black"

Oh mate.

Ive called Dowell out plenty of times, im really not having a "Im not racist convo" mate, im REALLY not.

I dont dislike the lad, ive said countless times he has bags of talent, but to imply that people dislike him cos hes black, well, best of luck with that 1.

There's been no 'media narrative'. Anytime his name gets brought up in the papers, it's praise.

I’ve been really clear I’m not calling anyone racist on here and I include you in that.

I’ve made my point on the reporting narrative I feel that’s out there on the lad and how that has influenced people’s perceptions and opinions on the persona of this lad.

People can critise people’s footballing abilities all they want, I think Zouma isn’t all that myself. I used to rip Tim Howard to shreds. If Ade where to hand in a transfer request and do a Barkley I’d call him a rat.

I’d ask people to reflect on the points im making, he hasn’t done anything to own the label of agitator, greedy, wants out, he may but not yet. But why is that even a thing, because he went out on loan and did well.

Your right though no advantage in harping on about it, I’m happy enough to have made my point and trust people to be open minded and make their own minds up instead of just reacting to labels but consider the facts.

Just been waiting for him to do something that makes us all take notice this season but never really came off for him. That said he did good work in the build up to Walcott’s goal.

I hope we keep him for one more season personally, there’s defo something there but he has to force the issue. It’ll be no good moving to Germany if he’s not willing to fight for his place here, inevitably it’ll happen there too.
