Airtricity League 2023

I know Hibs are sorted, but Lincoln might try again to get Bradley. BTW I think he's only 38!!

Personally I hope he stays and tries for a League record 5 in a row. He already has the record as the only manager to win 4 in a row. The great Rovers team of 83/4 to 86/7 won the four under two different managers - three for Jim McLaughlin and the last under Dermot Keely.

But his lovely son Josh's illness is probably the biggest factor - he will be very reluctant to move his place of treatment from the superb Crumlin Chlldren's Hospital in Dublin ( now known as Children's Health Ireland - CHI). Josh's health puts everything else very much into second place. Please God the treatment is successful.

“My son’s stuff really got to me,” said Bradley, who was replying to a question on whether balancing stressful life situations risked burning him out. “It really bothered me and it took me a while to really understand that. To protect the players but also bring them in and allow them to understand what was happening in my personal life.

“That really took its toll on me, I really questioned if I could do it and how would I do it. That was a low point in my life and really made me question everything. If I was going to be here, I wanted to give everything to the players and not hold anything back. It took me a while to get my head around that, and working with Mary (Mary Larkin, Rovers Psychotherapist) has helped me massively. Talking and speaking.”

Rovers make 10 changes away to Cork City- no surprise really with the league in the bag. City have a relegation play-off against either Waterford or neighbours Cobh Ramblers.

Pohls had a great game, making two brilliant saves particularly them one right at the death.

If Alan Mannus feels he wants to start easing off (42 next May! - I am happy for him to stay No1 btw - Pohls showing he will be an able understudy.

Mannus announcing his retirement, he was made available to journos today before Rovers left Tallaght. Friday night is 100% his last game

He has been a great servant.

If you told me in the 80s that in the future a NI international and former Linfield player would become a legend in a very successful Rovers team and much loved hero to the hard core fans, I would have been very pleased, but would have found it difficult to believe.

I wish Alan every blessing in whatever he decides to do in his future.

Rovers finish 4-2 winners sgainst Sligo.

Rovers 72 pts
Derry 65
Pat's 62
Shels need Pat's to win the Cup to get into Europe.
Bohs need to beat Pat's and win the Cup to qualify for Europe

Great to see Pat Byrne there, what a player. I got his autograph as a 10 year old when Rovers played my local team in a pre season game back in the 80's. He was an International at the time.
Superb player. Brilliant reader of the game. Something like Reidy but not quite as much of an enforcer, although no pushover.

He had sublime skills in passing and scored some memorable goals including a winner direct from a free against Bohs at Milltown.

My late Dadcwas with me that day and he was raving about Pat.

Cheers mate.

Brilliant match tonight, gutting for Cork but what a great win for Waterford, better team on the night

Sorry @NeroCeasar . I think Irishblue's comment is fair enough.

Hopefully 2024 will see City make a successful season, and win the division to get back where ye belong.

I take my hat off to Long - even for an ex Bozo manager - his record since taking over at the end of March is excellent, with 36 games, 21 wins, 8 draws and just 7 defeats, a 58.33% success rate.
