Confirmed Signing Alex Iwobi

He means just because Pepe was bought as a replacement for £72m doesn't mean Iwobi is worth £71m.

Not at all. Just means that Iwobi wasn't good enough so they bought someone else.

That quote was when the Zaha to arsenal rumours were doing the rounds so he's been seen as "a position to strengthen" all summer

I personally think it could be something to try to get the Zaha transfer moving tbh, but if they are signing him you have to assume they have scouted him thoroughly and think he has the potential to kick on. He's not played in great Arsenal teams and there has been a lot of issues in the dressing room etc, so in a new environment and playing in a different way he there's every chance he could jump up a level.. It's a gamble but if that's what the clubs scouting team think then we should give the lad a chance. Digne struggled to make an impact before

A new enviroment is possible for players who have a background of doing something and just havent done it at a particular place. Thats fair. A new enviroment for a player who's done nothing of note is also fair. But not at 30m quid.
Lets not give clubs like arsenal 30m quid for players they now know is not up to what they need.

Last season, the Arsenal No.17 chipped in with 0.27 assists per 90 and averaged an impressive 0.35 expected assists per 90. Deployed primarily on the left, Iwobi was used as a traditional winger in the sense he’d look to beat a man and get into the area before picking out a team-mate.

It may sound simple and fairly obvious but so many wide players these days are goalscorers. They have a selfish streak to their game and while it’s welcomed by most clubs, every team needs an Iwobi in some form.

He creates space for others to exploit, averaging 5.43 touches in the area, he can beat a man, completing 54 per cent of the 3.87 dribbles he attempts on a per 90 basis and, perhaps the most undervalued part of his game, he can pick a pass.

From analysis on football whispers.
Seems like a good alternative to Bernard?

Arsenal fans seem to think he would operate better centrally (as a 10 or even an 8).
We don’t have any back up to Gylfi and only 3 wingers, so both him and Zaha would be ideal.
Seems hugely unlikely we would pay £40 million for someone to sit on the bench though.
