The thing with Iwobi is, he actually tries to make things happen. Too many of our midfielders don’t take any responsibility on the ball. He could have been steadier by just playing the easy ball but he does seem to try and force things. He just needs to improve that cross/final baller

he definitely puts a shift in. But he struggles to go past players and his final ball is terrible.
we have better balance with him in the right.

Coming into his own, after a shaky start. Beginning to see why we spent the big bucks to get him.
You know I don’t really get why people bang on about us spending mega bucks on him (not directing this at you - I mean in general).

he was £28m plus add ons. That’s pretty average nowadays.

benteke (palace 2nd time)
sahko
Slimini
Iheanacho
Xhaka
Soldado
Lamela
Sissoko
Sanchez
Luke Shaw
Batshuayi
Drinkwater
Zappacosta
Bakayoko
Rudiger
Jefferson Lerma
Wesley Moraes
Pablo Fornals
Ayoze Perez
Lucas Torreira
William Saliba

All in and around that fee in recent years.

Yep just a quick comparison with similar players at the top 6.

Pepe 70 mill
Mahrez/ Sterling 50 mill
Salah 40 mill
Werner 40 mill

The list could go on as well. Pulisic Ziyech Martial Bernardo Silva Jota all expensive. The top 6 are throwing big money at attacking players now. In comparison 28 mill really isnt that much.

He's on a decent run but are we blinded by the wins? for me he still falls short of what we need in terms of creativity and end product, and If I am looking to replace a position in the future his is probably first on the list. Having said all that he has improved and is putting in graft so fair play to him.

Probably yes but also he has two assists in the last two games (although not sure if the Holding o.g. will officially count as one). That’s end product regardless of whether he frustrates more often that not when he gets to the bye line.

My view is that iwobi is a 28m player. That’s more or less par. Some clubs can spend that and end up with an amazing player (liverpool) but iwobi is the average.

it’s the only £5m (2000s) and 10m (2010s).

I still think he’s got room to improve though. He’s hit the bottom which was the end of last season where he looked unfit and unmotivated barely able to trap a ball. Now he looks like he’s finally match fit with some confidence. The Iwobi that was at Arsenal and up there with the what in Europe for key attacking passes was still miles better than this. If he can keep improving and reach that level then it’s still money well spent in my view. I still think he’s better value than if we’d splurged the 70 million on Zaha that was discussed at the time.

Hopefully end product and that is stuff he will improve on as time goes on but a few good games won't change how much he stunk the place out for the whole of last season. let's just hope he keeps his form up, my only concern would be when the whole team is fit (a big if with us) does he still get in it?

This basically.
He's gone from not only offering nothing but being a liability. It did my head in when he fell alseep and let runners go.
He is now pulling in the same direction as one or two others who were not even a decent squad option.

If we stick with 4231 which seems to be our most balanced formation at the moment then I can’t see any other option on that right wing which gives us the same balance.

Could be worse.........we could have paid £40m for Joelinton or £45m for Haller!
