Don't like criticising player's to much but if a player hasn't got a football brain at 18 it's very likely they will never have one, it's very hard to teach that. I'd argue that footballing intelligence is something that improves over the course of a career. You just need to look at Dom, good coaches are able to teach tactical awareness.

I think Dom has always had the intelligence, Anchelotti asked him to get in the box more but even before that he was asked to run the channels and he did that very intelligently. His movement and dragging defenders was always very clever.

I disagree, I think he was always hard working and willing but his positioning was off for a striker. He's learnt now that he's more useful staying central and getting into the box.

No ones born with perfect footballing intelligence, some just learn faster than others and it can be coached into anyone.

Or different coaches used him in different ways, player's play where they're told to play, it was Carlos who asked him to do less work but Dom is intelligent enough to do both, Iwobi has been tried all over the pitch but hasn't got the natural intelligence to carry it out.

Talking about intelligence mate, have a gander at the old pictures thread and look at the Alan Whittle goal, watch the part Bally played in it, I'm sure you'll love it, Ball wasn't just intelligent at 21 to win the the m.o.m in the world cup final, he was 50 years ahead of his time intelligent, absolutely superb.
