Definition of a street footballer

….Wayne Rooney is my definition of a street footballer, quality, hunger and application. Looks like he’s been brought up with a football at his feet and plays like the game matters. I get the impression winning Football matches isn’t as important to Iwobi.

Think he scored a blammo. Mad innit? Rooney says he is the best he has seen, and his actual career as a pro is a bit Argos.

If you ever watch him he does have some serious ability and should have done way more with his career. The issues all seem to have been off field stuff, I think he grew up in a pretty tough area and I know in the past there have been concerns with regards to some of the company he keeps and there was a few years back even a rumour about him being affiliated with some sort of gang.

If you wanna see Alex’s skill level give this video a watch…it might show you why his team mates think he’s so skilled… just a pity he hasn’t been able to replicate it on a proper size pitch!

Just watched that clip today where he chased back half the pitch ,slide tackled won the ball and crossed for an assist in the states.
Cant imagine iwobi has or ever will put in that effort

Plenty of them never do anything 11 a side.

Unfortunately it does look that way.

I guess the only saving grace is he does seem to have the raw skill in him…but wether he or the coaching staff can ever figure out how to transfer that into actual games constantly is a whole other thing!

Quick feet, pass move, close quarters, two touch passing, lack of thought.

11 a side player realises that he's got more space, has to think about positioning, when to pass, control, keeping the ball in areas, have to actually beat a player who's as quick/quicker as you, track back, defend. Then end product.

Basically...good stepovers lad but where does it get you on the pitch? Utter fraud footballer.

…yep, I remember that. Not forgetting at that point he’d already won virtually all there is to win in the game. After his debut goal against Arsenal he went back to Croxteth and played footy with his mates in the garages by his house. Wayne Rooney, the last of the street footballers.

Can’t disagree with any of that, to be fair.

Just wished the lad could find a way to transfer those five a side skills he does seem to posses to eleven a side…cause if he can’t, that’s another 35 million or so wasted entirely by the club… but then again that seems to be a running theme under the current regime

It's obvious he can't. His 3rd season under a 3rd manager and still can't get to be 1st name on the team sheet.

For all his tricks and fancy footwork (which he can only pull off in training) he can't do the basics as good as he can do a stepover.

There's thousands of beach footballers with technical skills like Messi.

It means the square sum of sod all if you're about as effective as Tony Hibbert in applying them in an actual game.

Reminds me of players who would sign up in the summer in the local league and I'd think this guy is unreal. He's going to rip the league to shreds and then first game of the season he'd go missing on the pitch and it was like Where's the world beater we saw in training?

I was going to post that he and Bolasie would give each other a run for their money.
