No it wasn't. He's meant to stop his man from attacking the ball and he did that as his man didn't actually jump at it. Holgate is the one meant to be attacking and clearing it and he's ducked.

Yeah maybe another day he's more alert and gets in to clear it but it isn't exactly his job when you use that system.

Because it isn't a man to man system. His job is to keep his man from getting a clean run and winning a contested header. But he's not the one contesting the header, that is Holgate.

So when his man scores with his foot because no one heads it clear that really isn't his fault, it is the fault of the man in the zone who shithoused the header.

Good work rate in that first half. Still looking good when he runs forward with the ball, might help him if Dom moved a bit more ahead of him. Keep the discipline in the 2nd half, going from just one of several big disappointments, to a player who could help us survive?
