Agreed mate, the devil be in the detail of the deal, but he’s on 80k, if he gets a bump in that we are over paying, worse we are baking that wage into a multi year contract.

We honestly don't because even our best players aren't that good. And when they are that good we won't be able to keep them. There is actually currently no world in which we should build a plan around keeping our best players.

Increasing his wage and extending his deal beyond an additional year or two maximum will prove to be another awful business decision. We could easily be a Championship side in seven months time, with him on 100k a week guaranteed until 2026.

It could be a reflection on how badly the DOF role has been under Farhad, but he is one of our best, and one of our most important players.

A new owner doesn't actually change that right away. It's going to take years of sticking to a plan and building it all up before we get to a point where we can realistically have players we should be doing all we can to keep and have an actual shot at keeping them.
