5 years is very long in my opinion, but it does help the club in a number of ways to.

Not sure i trust him wholly, to maintain his form, say if Lampard wasn't here next year.
Let’s be honest he stole his very high wages for two and a half seasons so he owes us, let him carry on as he has been playing and hope another club comes in and buys him with a nice profit for us.

Agree mate. He has two to run as it is.

3 year extension next summer with an option of a 4th.

Far from convinced he will carry this form over 5 years of mangers here, which could be 3-4 in Everton money!

Fascinating interview in the I this morning….
Was told to go abroad on loan under Fat Benny but wanted to stay and prove himself.
Either the kick up the backside he needed or a resilience and determination previously not known.
Also credits The Coady / Tarks and Onana / Guye with keeping his positional discipline.

Always love the things that fall out of the aftermath of that fat mess. While all the kopites defend him in the media, every Evertonian knows he was destroying the club from the inside - mentally, physically, and financially.

Tbf if there was anything positive about his tenure (other than his sacking) he oversaw the exit of some significant salaries.
Imagine if part of the thinking in his appointment was to be a hatchet man for Mosh ?‍?

It’s interesting that he was told to keep it simple and that didn’t reflect the way he trained.

FL told him to do what he does in training. Try things.

He has freedom to do that now and he is all the better for it.

Re a new 5 year contract either he significantly ups his goals/assists/big chances created or we will need to upgrade longer term, if we’re ever going to challenge for European places again.

He’s been our most advanced midfielder this season and he has one goal and two shots on target in 13 games. That needs to improve a lot. The lack of goals in midfield is one reason we’re a bottom half team.

Assists, while he has 5 this season, his expected assists are only 2. Three of his assists, the pass to Maupay v West Ham, cross for Onana that Dwight McNeil picked up and smashed in from a ridiculous angle and his pass to Calvert Lewin v Palace had minuscule xg, hence his expected assists at 2 as a result. He even said himself for the Calvert Lewin goal he’d take the assist but he just passed it to DCL and he did all the work beating the defender and scoring from the angle.

He’s obviously shown massive improvement and looks far better in a central position but there will come a time when there needs to be more end product.

Like who? Apart from himself and James.

Forced Digne out is the only one I can think of. Still had Gomes, Mina, Tosun, Delph eating wages.

Unless you mean the DoF and medical staff. These were all down to his personality rather than some strategical plan
