2023/24 Alex Iwobi

He just takes up a lineup slot that can be used to develop another player or bring some pace into the side. He is an excuse for managers to be lazy with their selections. Sigurdsson was the same. I don’t ever want to bring in another guy like that which provides the bare minimum and gets a free run in the team.

Nothing against the fella, looks like a decent lad,he works hard enough, just doesn’t to me anyhow appear to be an intelligent player, for the ridiculous sum we paid for him our return has been negligible really,if he only has a year left on his contract ,maybe any offer around ten million or upwards would suffice.
Could have saved yourself all that typing mate and just said he's shabite.

Outside of a purple patch at the back end of the season that led into the new one I thought he quickly reverted to being subpar in centre mid too.

It wasn't surprising to me that moving doucoure back into midfield and moving him wide improved our form enough to stay up under dyche.

I'd be aggrieved to let him go without another attacking centre mid lined up though.
Yeah agree, if you don't play him in that box to box defender role (it's unconventional cause defenders ain't meant to run and chase all over the place) then he becomes ineffective for the team. And you'd think just about every coach would not want to play that role.
Lampard made the mistake of reverting back to something more traditional and the wheels fell off.
The thing is, as it stands we don't have better options than to play him like that...imho
We still haven't come up with a decent 6 since twilight Barry.

Don't understand the desire to dispense with him

He works hard, can be a lot for opponents to handle, occasionally creates, which makes him more productive than 85% of the side
1) he’s not that good
2) he’s out of contract next year and this football club simply cannot afford to let players leave for free. I’m pretty sure that if we get £12m for him it’ll be classed as profit on the books
3) he’s still poo

Che Adams: same age, same contract situation, division below, no better or more productive than Iwobi. 15m valuation. Why would we want less?

To get rid.
He's injured anyway and the window closes friday.
He'll run his contract down and hope someone matches his current wages due to no fee. Which isnt gona happen as he'll only get that from this stupid club.

1) None of them are, but he's better than most
2) Valid, but we're also trying to survive and I do not know where the replacement energy/chances come from
3) See #1

Occasionally creates is exactly the problem. If we can shift his wages and get a fee for him, we can try and get someone in who scores or assists more frequently. He’s also be leaving for free next summer as things stand.
