Alisher Usmanov

I think this post should be stickied on every single thread in the Everton forum until the end of the transfer window. Every Esk-ite should be forced to read and understand the bit in bold especially. I was PMing a wise forum member earlier today, who rightly likened the posters who blindly defend his (terrible) record of transfer boasts to scientologists who blindly defend their 'religion'. Thanks @R934 for your insightful and sensible posts this evening; I've enjoyed reading them. Goodnight to you, friend.

May I suggest you start a thread in the ale house and make a compelling case, rather than chasing the Eskimos round the forum.

@The Esk clearly has no conviction, if he had he would not withhold evidence. Given the 'sensitivity' of the information and 'vulnerability of source' it would be wrong to reveal. If thats the case why reveal anything?

Why risk such information being misinterpreted in the public domain?

Why risk such information identifying said indiviual(s)?

Can't have it both ways, its fence-sitting of the highest order.

Specualtive guesswork, and just like a gambler something will eventually come in.

Is this you "not having a go" again? It seems all you've been doing is "not having a go" since you reappeared. :coffee:

When you think about it mate, you could easily argue that a lot of Everton fans are too fervent on it actually happening.

Usmanov has repeated time and again that he has no interest in selling, but each time this gets re-iterated, Everton fans refuse to accept it. Is that not a narrow, one-track take on the situation?

The whole thing is based on conjecture, i.e. that Moshiri has worked with Usmanov on previous projects and is unhappy with his lack of control at Arsenal.

If this is true, why would Usmanov (not Moshiri) not lead the initial acquisition? Surely Usmanov at the helm from the outset would attract the highest calibre of manager/player and therefore this would make the overhaul of the team quicker and easier? Why put Moshiri out front and leave Usmanov the tough sale of the Arsenal shares?

Wont argue that a lot are hoping it happens and sure it will mate, but not without some credance to those claims

Moshiris only public statement on his Arsenal holdings insisted he was in there for the long haul and would leave his shares ultimately as a legcay to his family mate - same letter that Usmanov made that assertion. You'll find that the latest rumour mill came via not Everton fans but rather Arsenal ones as well.

Is it pure conjectrue though, it's on record that Usmanov wanted control, it's also on record that him and Moshiri had a very detailed plan on how to bring a team to the very top of the game, is a 30 year partnership in business when they have set out to control a club together once already - is that just conjectrue to think the plan was suddeen;ly scrapped and one party gave up on the idea? Also painting it as they have worked on projects togetehr i vastly underselling just how interwined they have been in business and friendship for 30+ years mate - and also just how mcuh each has benefited from this.

Why would a General send his Lieutenant in first to prepare the ground, maybe because thats why people like Usmanov have people like Moshiri in there inner circles mate, who has the better/cleaner public profile out the two, who would the instant expaectation be a little lower upon out the two - thus allowing for a year or twos grace to sort out a total mess of a club, get the staduium paniing sorted and then go into full throttle mode?

I put no stock in statement's made by people that wealthy. They will do what benefits them, regardless of what they said they would do (like almost all of us would, to be fair).

Agreed. "Does not intend to sell his stake in Arsenal Holdings plc" certainly doesn't close any doors.

However, selling his shares would be pretty hard work. Would have to give a steep discount for the lack of control and then you factor in that dividends aren't really likely and it would be a pretty tough sell to an investor especially given Kroenke's grip on the club. Maybe the sale of shares to fans that has been mentioned on here may work, there is certainly a few question marks over that though.

Either way, to me his statement puts it in the wait and see basket. See if Moshiri can get us going in the right direction and maybe it will be too good an opportunity to pass up even if it means getting rid of his Arsenal shares at well under market value. Everyone is guessing but the Red and White Holdings statement hardly stops it from being a consideration to think about.
