No player is ever guaranteed to be a success in the Premier League........remember Shevchenko, one of the top players in Europe (signed for a UK record fee of over £30m by Chelsea) only lasted 18 months before being loaned back to AC Milan. Robinho (Man C), Veron (Man U) and Di Maria (Man U) all massive players in Europe at the time, massive transfer fees and failed spectacularly in the EPL. There is risk attached to every transfer but, in my humble opinion Allan, at under £30m is a risk well worth taking.I hope you're right but nothing is guaranteed including him even suiting the PL.
@PaulPowersTash can you confirm?
I hope he wrestled that tie off Jim White whilst shouting he’s never getting any insider info off Mosh again.
Andy Gray and Peter Reid, I know Reidy was only 26/27 when we signed him, but, after his terrible injury problems it was looking like his best years were behind him.
Andy Gray and Peter Reid, surely?
*edit...already answered
Andy Gray and Peter Reid.
Peter Reid and Andy Grey
Tbf in those days you pretty much were done @ 30...Ha ha. I'm not sure how Reidy would take to being called a veteran when he joined us at 26.
Also, I had sort of discounted him because he'd already been with us a couple of years before we turned the corner after the New Year in 1984. But I guess he was injured the previous season and hardly played.
Just looked at Andy Gray too. He joined us in November 83, before his 28th birthday. I guess veterans were a tad younger in those days.
