It is really simple, He is better than what we have, he will improve our first team immediately, his legs won't magically fall off when he hits 30. There has to be balance but at 29 you are getting 3-5 years out of him, if he helps get us up the table then the transfer fee is irrelevant.

I hope you're right but nothing is guaranteed including him even suiting the PL.

No it is different. We had no problem moving on Lookman and Vlasic when they weren't "good enough."

Maybe in european leagues - I think you base alot of your opinions on the likes of Dortmund and the Red Bull type clubs mate.

Literally no team in the Premier League since the class of 92 at Utd has built a team over 4-5 years.

Even Liverpool have signed big name players in their later 20's to add the final piece of the jigsaw as it were.

Andy Gray and Peter Reid, I know Reidy was only 26/27 when we signed him, but, after his terrible injury problems it was looking like his best years were behind him.

We had this under Moyes and when he left all we needed was someone who could carry it on.
But no. Billy Billshutter allowed Bobby to totally rip it up and start again. Worked great for 6 months but we are were we are now because of that.

I get what you mean mate but ultimately there isnt one clear cut way of building a squad.

Sadly the last 4 years we have gone backwards and have fallen behind outfits like Leicester and Wolves never mind even further than the top 6.

To get back in the mix we need a core group of ready made players in addition to younger players like Richarlison & Holgate.

If Allan contributes to us getting back into Europe or winning us a trophy then its completely worth it.
