Confirmed Signing Allan

Other clubs seem to have been able to manage it.
They’ve had since the end of the season to sort it out. If we don’t have a new midfield then we’re 3 points down after the first game.
Chill mate. The important thing is that we get these players signed. Just try and enjoy the fact that we're bringing in players of the quality of James and Allan.

The league has never been won or lost on day one. Those old enough will remember an opening day 4-1 loss to Spurs in 1984

This.

Triple announcement, I'm sure of it. The star's are aligning

Thursday:
5PM - Doucoure
7PM - Allan
9PM - Hamez

Would be great for exposure

You know this is Everton. After agreement it takes 2x 48h to fully complete a deal. So Doucoure no way we will manage that lol

I’m “chilled”, but less than two months ago we witnessed one of the worst Everton midfields put together in years, continually easily outfought, outplayed, devoid of any passion or ability to control a game.

If you guys are ok with seeing them line up against spurs then I think we just have different expectation levels.

If we go into the first game expecting a loss then we really aren’t moving forward as a club IMO.

That's fair enough mate. We all want us to play well and win that first game. But all I'm asking for is a bit of perspective. We're currently in a position where we are on the cusp of bringing in two very good footballers to the club, one in particular who is special and could turn out to be the finest footballer we have had since Alan Ball.

I'm suggesting that you savour that. Be excited about it rather than spend your time worrying about the outcome of one match that will have little bearing on our season.

The worry about having to see Tom Davies in midfeild is a fair one and one we all have. I wouldnt say we are expecting a loss as a club, but ultimately i'd sacrifice one game if it meant that we would get the quality we need for the long-term.

It's having that patience over the season too. Ideally we'd want them to have a full pre-season with the squad and the coaches - but more often than not, a player takes a good while to bed in over the season. Rarely do they light up the stage immediately. The earlier the better though for their arrival - as those midfield positions take a good while to gel.

I don't know how you can say this to be honest with you.

Firstly, it is you, and probably quite a few other fans too, who are going into that first game expecting a loss. I'm pretty sure that Marco and the rest of the coaching staff and players will not be doing the same.

I'm not expecting that either and I'm fairly confident I speak on behalf of many of our fans here too. Those players, including the midfielders, that finished the season, are pretty much the same players we had going into lockdown. Our form during that period, Chelsea apart, was pretty decent. Since then we've had a lockdown which was longer than a normal close season, restricted training and then no pre season leading up to the restart. We also had injuries to key players and basically nothing to play for rather than league position. Yes we were poor, but I'm not going to make a knee jerk reaction about the overall state of our club based on that 4/5 week period.

As regards not moving forward as a club, then I totally disagree with you. We have a world class manager, we look as though we will have a window where we will fix the main areas of concern in our starting XI, and things are still progressing with the new stadium. I don't think there's been a more exciting time to be an Evertonian in the last 30 years.

Marco? Well I wasn't expecting a loss until I read that...
