Around the time Bally went, we had talks with a view to signing George Best from Man U. My Uncle Raymond was very well in with the club and used to look after the Blue Streak Train, he told me Besty was keen, I guess the club must have thought it too much of a gamble.
 

Billy Bremner - the Catt thought he had him as part of the deal that saw Bobby Collins go to Leeds, but Revie changed his mind and kept Bremner.
One account from Harry Catterick’s biography suggested that Revie was not against selling Bremner at that time, but the squad had suffered sone injuries and the player was needed for the next few game. His performances were so good Revie decided to keep him.
