Whilst this is exciting he also said that Tom Cleverely was one of the best English free transfers of all time….

Martinez on Cleverley:
“I wouldn’t sell him for any money in the current market,

“Probably his football understanding as good as you are going to get and that showed today.

“I think you do not have a better English player. Technically, he is as good as you get. The way he executes, how he reads the game, for me he is one of the most sensational you are going to see in Premier League history.”

By that barometer, we should expect Onana to be the third best kit man we've ever had, since we switched to Hummel.

I mean just to correct the record, over the past 5 years on transfermarkt we have net spent 130m. West Hams figure is well over 300m in the same period. As he says though "they never learn".

Worth noting, the deal is not 40m for Onana, nor are we paying 100k pw (or the 130k pw as we saw suggested last week).

Reports from Belgium seemed to suggest 60k pw, which sort of fits in with the new robust wage structure we have.

Reports also seem to suggest 25-29m down with add ons to 34m ish. There looks to be a 20% sell on any profit made (that may well be what the add on is, or on addition to any add ons).

Either way, a few factual errors in there.
If there are indeed reports of these then I expect they are wrong too. The RS infected media always add millions to our players.
I reckon he's on 30k pw with a total fee ranging between £15-18m.
