“Sources at the London Stadium insist that the Irons remain in the running to sign the Belgium international and are still hopeful of reaching an agreement over personal terms,” a Hammers insider told Claret and Hugh.

“There is a belief the player would want around £100,000-per-week in wages.

“Onana’s camp have been in talks with the Hammers since the bid was accepted and boss David Moyes is understood to be a big fan of the player.”

It's not a good way to quieten discontent though is it? People always say it, but it's actually a terrible way to quieten discontent - people who were pretty much at peace with us having no money/wiggle room suddenly get excited at the prospect of us splashing the cash only for it to be snatched away at the last second. Then people naturally start to ask why on earth we didn't spend the £30m earmarked for him on someone else. It breeds discontent rather than quietens it.
Well if you're going to use LOGIC...

It doesnt say they have "moved ahead".
