Thought he did very well again today. His only fault at the money is his passing can be rushed and he gives it away cheaply. Also didn’t track Bowen for the 2nd
He NEVER tracks anyone. Some great recovery tackles, but if you can see the back of Onana’s head, you can get into our box unmarked. His chest is always facing the ball. No clue what’s behind him ever. Proper coach would sort that instantly. Amazing no-one has.

Sounds like I hava vendetta against the lad. I like the idea of him. He has been better, but even the above post says great game, just needs to stop giving the ball away and was at fault for a goal. Nice one. Charmed life he leads.

Imagine if someone actually coached him.

Didn’t think he was great today tbh. Too casual with his passing and not progressive or quick enough with the ball either. Lots of others were worse obviously.

I agree with this. I think he’s our best midfielder, but he needs to look to pass and run forward a lot more. He’s too happy to pass it back to Gana, when his instinct needs to be to carry or pass it forward himself. He looks capable of doing this, but seems reluctant to alot of the time. The whole team is too slow and negative. We need this kid to help make us more threatening, Lampard needs to tell him to just go for it alot more, be more direct. Davies tried to do this, and we looked a bit better for a few minutes. Tell Onana to try the same, and he might achieve a lot more?

Genuinely could still see him with us next season if we're relegated. He's only 21, and would not be a huge salary-earner, and he looks like a level-headed enough lad to know himself he's still a bit raw.

If we don't get promoted next season though, he'd be off.
He's on the edges of his national team, an aging team with a new manager planning for the future. I doubt personally that he'd want to stay in the championship as it may harm his international chances. Whether we'd get an acceptable bid given what we paid for him and the rumoured sell on clause is another matter altogether.

The second goal he had a look of too casual like he could have made a play and didn’t. Southampton he was the best player on the pitch. It’s almost like he’s a 21 year old kid. The shame is we’re hoping for him to be a semi savior instead of an effective piece of the puzzle.

His first full season as a pro, new league he is bound to have fluctuating form but the signs are he can become a good midfielder.
