2022/23 Amadou Onana

Thought Onana did well today. Not saying he controlled the midfield or anything like that, but the lad played his part in helping us secure three vital points.

Every player that played can be proud of course. For me Onana wasn't on form today but did have a decent 10 minutes before half time. Second half really struggled but as I keep saying he's very young and has lots of time to develop his game.

He’s clearly very very talented. I struggle to get my head round anyone not seeing that. He’s young, inexperienced and in a new country though, and we’re asking him to play in a role that helps the team but doesn’t necessarily show the best of him.

Its a entirely different ball game inside the world of Fifa and Football manager.

Games pass him by. Could be good or could be world class. Once Everton has touched him I suspect he will be good at best.

Awful today, missed a sitter and never got into the game at all.
Developed into a classic Everton midfielder, he looks to pass backwards at every opportunity.

Brings attitude too. I think that's important even if he didn't have a great game...and he's going to put away one of the chances created for him very soon. He's getting into great positions and just needs that bit of composure. That'll come.

He hasn’t been quite at it in the last couple of games but he’s young and taking responsibility in a difficult situation. We seen the difference for me when Davies replaced him. He’s an important player in there.

The man has zero chill in front of goal. That chance he had yesterday, he's had 7-8 times now and only one goal to show for it. I still like him, but he needs more composure in front of goal. He finishes like I do, very poorly.

Exactly the same with Doucouré.

If one of the two, let alone both, could actually show some composure in front of goal then I think we'd be in a far more comfortable league position right now.

They both get themselves into dangerous positions, but they have a tendency to fluff their lines.
