Garner and Davies would have definitely relegated us!

How about not signing Garner, Maupay and McNeil and bringing in a pacy winger and a proper centre forward.

Garner would not have fared any worse than Onana has. When he has played he has played OK. And with even an average forward we would have at least 10 points more.

Yes, those signings too were bad. But as this is the Onana thread and he was our big summer signing, he is the biggest one we got wrong.

We will do well to get back the money we paid for him. I don't think there will be too many teams fighting for him at £30m.

Romeo Lavia cost less than half what Onana did, is 2 years younger and, in a worse team he’s been excellent.

Although I do think his role has been limited a little. Hasn’t been able to use his athleticism really at all.

Was really hoping this kid was gonna hit the floor running and for the first few games it appeared he did. Thought he was gonna be that big engine in midfield with the ability to split defences and chip in with the odd goal. Unfortunately and yet again our recruitment dept have spunked money not only on a sub standard player but these funds should of gone on a forward. Another one to add to the long list of poor buys.

Remember when he came on at Villa in his first game with about twenty minutes left he was raw but was demanding the ball, driving forward, making a big difference and nearly dragged us back in the game. We haven't seen that for a long time though, really disappointing as he's got all the tools.

As we tend to do to most players who have some talent.... we drag them back down to our level.

I agree he needs to get out of this phase and step it up in the last games, and really he is the only one who can drag us through the run in.

To say he is sub standard and similar to the likes of Gylfi, Iwobi, Bolasie, JPG and so on that we have spent a lot of money on in recent years is far from the truth.

Expect even in the summer we will get min 40-50m for him as he won't be staying around in the championship.
