I havent doubted his potential, I just feel as tho as the poster above says, he hasnt really had that many stand out games for us.

He's 21 and played about 30 games in the premier league in an abysmal side. And despite not being that good he's going to go for a bigger fee to a better team?

As you say, hes 21, still very young, could very well grow and improve into a very good player, but I personally dont think he played that amazing for us for most of the season.

If hes still here in September, I really hope we see the player he could potentially be.

Onana has all the attributes to be top class but to suggest he’s already made it is wrong

If I said he had only one game last season where we saw all of his attributes consistently for 90 mins and he looked quality you’d all know I meant Arsenal at home because his good performances were few and far between

Not unusual for a kid in his first season in the country but we’ll need much better next year for him to justify the hype

Hes pretty much nailed the anchor midfield position for Belgium and is being hailed as better than any of their 'golden generation' who played in that position (Witsel, Tielemans etc).

He just needs to be used there for us and we'll have a top midfielder.

He will benefit from having Garner back fit.

We needed to blood both these players throughout the season but Garner picking up an injury and Davies too, lead to Onana playing a lot of games for someone new to the club, country and league.

If we can keep hold of him and add another centre midfield too, we will see a marked improvement in him

Didn’t have many obviously calamity games but very very very ineffective is fair surely? I’d swap his stature for a different attribute because he doesn’t use it.

Also, lots of close range goals from midfielders that ran within 2 feet of Onana in the buildup, to then score from between the spot and 6 yard box with Onana outside the box with his hands on his head. It was a thing that opposing managers clearly exploited at one point as it was clear as day. His body position is totally wrong and has no clue what’s around him defensively. His first two strides aren’t quick enough to compensate.

Likes a good number of wall passes per game with Tarks to ensure his pass completion % stays high and he actually appears on a heat map.

The lad could (and probably will) be a massive talent, but the things he doesn’t do aren’t anything to do with mythical pace and power of the PL or his age.

Really frustrates me, as it’s all in there, but nothing other than long legged recover tackles gets shown.

That said, he’s better than any midfielder we can afford, so if he does wake up and have a breakout season, I hope it’s here.
