2023/24 Amadou Onana

I could never understand why some penalties are taken like that. As long as the keeper doesn't commit and move first, he'll have a much better chance at stopping it because there won't be as much power behind the attempt. Guaranteed Pickford stops all those he narrowly missed if they were taken like Onana's. was.
I'm still seething about the result, but I'm not going to slate the kid PROVIDED he learns from it. If -- and admittedly it's a big if -- he ever gets to take another penalty and does the same mincing run-up and the keeper makes a save, he should be binned. In the meantime, he can get back in our good books by giving maximum effort on the pitch.
I would much rather he's never let near a penalty spot whilst he plays in an Everton shirt (Gueye as well).

I’m not the only person saying this, go back to the beginning of this thread and you’ll see people calling him overrated. Imagine if this had been Michael Keane who missed the penalty the way Onana did. Hopefully you would be sticking up for him too because this board is ruthless towards Michael Keane even at times when it isn’t warranted
I'm not remotely saying you are the only person saying it!

If Michael Keane missed the exact same penalty last night he would not be getting called arrogant though. He would be getting called stupid, I guess because that's the pigeon hole that he gets put in.

Honestly I would stick up for anybody taking and missing a penalty.

Onana's pen last night was not a rarity, loads of players take pens like that. I don't really get it personally as I think if you get some power on a pen there is a good chance it goes in even if the keeper reaches it, but its not down to arrogance or anything like that, its just how some players (bafflingly in my opinion) take their penalties.

He's just overestimated his ability to pull off a penalty like that. I'm still shocked he was up so high on the list given his record since arriving.

As much as we want to say that Everton is a complete shambles he must be able to pull the penalty off and there will be a reason he was on the list of takers. There is no way Dyche just says "yeah go on then" to Onana just for the sake of it.

He has messed his pen up, he probably converts them all the time in training.

Just all if you raging be careful woth your hatred. This club already has a reputation of people racist attitudes and some of the comments are borderline. It's not going to surprise me if media come out with an incident and tarnish our reputation when further. By all means you're right to be frustrated, but I'm hearing/seeing comments that's you beyond footballing matters. Stop it and grow up.

You'll have to show these borderline racist comments as I'm sure the mods would want to know.

Such a bad take this. Fans are disappointed to a varying level and therefore are absolutely allowed to express their opinion. Some may say its views like yours that keeps us trophyless…you are still entitled to your view tho
I'm not going to trawl through the thread quoting various posts which, once again, overstep the line between venting frustration and petulant abuse. Time and time again fans let their inability to control their emotions get the better of them and it overspills in to a toxic mosh pit.

Let's use Anthony Gordon as a recent example. He was literally chased in his car by fans trying to make themselves social media famous; "fair play to them lads, lad. They told him he's not good enough, lad. Proper blues, them, lad". Then when he forced a move he was labelled scum. We got a good fee for him, and he's doing well, but that won't stop the das from giving him a good verbal hammering twice a season until he retires.

The self importance of the modern day fan and their supposed pioneering views is one of the worst things about the club and the sport in general. It's honestly embarassing that you're suggesting people like me are holding the club back.

Penalties is a lottery, penalties get missed all the time Baggio balloned the ball over the bar in 94 world cup, zico missed a tame penalty penalty in 86 world cup 2 of best players of the past, we are lucky to have onana he will be a top player, not a time for fans to give onana a bad time , good form last few weeks was fans and Players on the same page this needs to continue to get away from bottom end of table.

Hope you have reported all these "borderline racist " comments mate. There is no borderline. A comment is either racist or it isn't. Have a word with yourself when commenting on such an important issue please

Seems we've gone from people apparently going OTT with their reactions to the holier than thou brigade saying how much criticism is acceptable. All I see is people who are justifiably pee'd off with him, nothing racial.

He made a monumentally stupid, arrogant decision that cost us. This will have been addressed behind closed doors.

100% support next game and hope he shows what he's made of in upcoming games.

This point a million times over.

And it’s not just the ‘modern fan’, the arl fellas who use it as some sort of self preservation coping method to show how ‘enlightened’ there are. The theories they’ll cook up based on one moment and rule it’s as law and ‘they knew all along’

It’s mind boggling
