He was too slow to the ball all game. I dont think he ever got up to the speed of the game, and that's the disappointment.
Alot of missed place passes not to feet made him look like he was slow to the ball but equally he had plenty of wayward passes himself

No shame in being made anonymous by that midfield. If that's the level he aspires to be, he was shown how tonight.

Looked a bit low on confidence, like the fans having a go at him for that penalty miss has burst his bubble.
To be honest have not heard of many giving him a hard time over that penalty. Think he got off fairly lightly over it to be honest and he should be coming out all guns blazing bursting a gut to try make amends not shrinking over it

He’s got the ability to dominate games and the physique to bully the opposition, maybe it’s just an experience or confidence thing at the moment.

….whilst I generally agree with the comments that he’s not consistently impacting games, I find it a little strange that posters are citing his age as a factor, especially given it’s pretty much the same as Nathan Patterson who has had plenty of excuses made for him in that respect.

I think you'll find the majority of people backing Patterson also have plenty of time for Onana too. I think it says more about the people than the players. The price tag and his outgoing personality seem to make a lot of people irate at the smallest stuff however. As for selling him, I wouldn't trust us in January to replace him adequately, but in the summer we are going to have to bank someone to keep going and he's probably the guy I would move reluctantly.

He's inconsistent, but can dominate games, but he's not going to do that against Man City. We really missed Doucoure last night. If we'd had a full team we might have got a draw. He'll get more time on the ball at Molineux and he needs to have a good game.

Looked off the pace yesterday and at times disinterested. But has been such an important part of our run of good form. Hopefully just a blip.

What was most annoying was how comfortable Rodri looked. I know he’s a good player but at what point does anyone in the midfield leave one on him to try and knock him out his rhythm? We just let him dictate the whole game. I can’t help but feel a Lee Carsley or Tim Cahill would have left him in a heap early doors or just niggled him to the point he got frustrated. It was just too easy for him.

Do that nowadays and you're walking a tightrope rest of the game as the ref can't wait to get his cards out.
Technically he's not at the same level as the Man city midfield so all the power and size in the world won't let you dominate them.
I thought he done OK last night, yes a good few wayward passes but most of the side were guilty of the same.
Still think he's improved on last season and will continue to.
