He really isn't. Barkley was one of the key players in a team that finished 5th. He was our playmaker and a player that even the best team like City, Liverpool and Utd were wary of. He was and is a massive talent and it's a shame how his career has panned out.

Barkley was under appreciated by our fan base and was a very good player for us. I just want Onana to play to his potential and to put in some 8/10 displays rather than regular 6/10 type performances. Key players performing is important during relegation battles.

Mate he’s played for about 30 different managers over 12 years and this is the first time he’s started to perform consistently.
Looks like the penny finally dropped for him that he actually has to work hard and focus to be a decent player … only took him to get to the age of 30 to realise

He played very well under Martinez and very well at times under Koeman in teams finishing in the top half of the table (comparative glory days compared to recent years). If a Klopp or an Ancelloti got hold of him early on he could have been a world class player.

Exactly, he was brilliant in Martinez first season too. Going to old Trafford and the Emirates and playing brilliantly. Everyone was gutted when he left to go to Chelsea. The issue was that there was far too much pressure on him. Chelsea is a player graveyard. Not sure what went wrong at Villa.

Onana is not even better than James Garner, if people actually watched him closely you’d see about 3 mins of action per game. It’s easy to dupe the fans if you go missing for most of the game and don’t have the bottle to actually make a mistake.
Anyone who thinks he has performed better for us than Barkley did clearly an agenda and has clue about football.

Creative, attacking wise maybe. Not the best by any means. Can't compare a creative midfielder to a solid centre back for example. Best is a matter of perspective

Yes, but seen him be the best player on the field against Newcastle and Arsenal lately. Don’t think I could ever say that about any of our players.

Were in the Onana thread (of course) and the comparison with an attacking midfielder (Barkley) is akin to comparing Paul Scholes with Roy Keane. Somewhat bizarre.

Any player who causes a club to lose £15mil in transfer fees is an absolute rat.

I could not see a world where Onana would do the same to us.

One is highly educated, grounded and sees the value of loyalty. The other is Ross 'The Rat' Barkley.

The cornerstone of Everton football club is the fans. Those same fans he basically stuck two fingers up to.

When i think of him now, its not the footballer, its the bloke who got sparked out in a club and who was partying all night in London before a game.
