Was thinking this looks alright until I saw what they served on the side at the end ….
Chef hands, you develop the tolerance.Never done it myself but how is he not burning the shiz out of his hands on that oil; can't imagine it cools off that quick.
*Could be butter, I'm not thinking...or listening for that matter.
It's so hard to find a good salad, unless you mean some of the things that are called "salad" in the South, all of which should be eaten but may not be healthy. I'll defer to @RAFUH or @mezzrow here but I'll tempt you with a fruit salad. When the lovely Mrs Nigh was in grad school in Florida with Yanks they wouldn't touch the stuff, but if you had a Southern grandma you ate this at least quarterly. If it's served without mayo it's not real.I don't get the impression America majors on salads, right?
Some of the stuff my mate in Texas sends me shots off make my arteries clang just looking.

Oh yes. Cool Whip flew in my family's kitchen like mortar in a brick wall. They are all variations of "ambrosia" which is a classical term and must contain the little orange wedges, coconut, and a variety of mixed fruits, with the accompanying heavy syrup. Mayo and nuts may also be involved. It's so hard to find a good salad, unless you mean some of the things that are called "salad" in the South, all of which should be eaten but may not be healthy. This qualifies in these parts as health food, which it is, compared to a Hardee's belt buster or that awesome birria taco plate I just demolished about two hours ago.

That there is a fancy ambrosia
Were the ring molds hanging on the kitchen wall? Bundt pan is a multitasker in Mom's kitchen. My dad's family has one that involves cubed cheddar cheese, marshmallows and pineapple with some combination of miracle whip, cool whip and mayo.
The aunties made one of those creamy lime jello salads in the ring mold
