I don't know a huge amount about the lad but he looks like the sort of player who's comfortable getting the ball in tight areas and likes to pass forwards: two things we've been lacking in midfield for some time.

The day that a 25 year old who has won the Euros and played 78 games for Barcelona in the last 2 seasons isn't good enough for us is a day that that I will be very happy indeed.
 
Loaning a player on deadline day who is not going to be fit to play as he is currently injured is daft and very risky and reeks of desperation tbh. Has a history of it too. Missed a month back in November 2017 and missed 3 months in 2015 with similar injuries. Barcelona might be trying to offload a problem on to us by the looks of it. I would prefer to steer clear and only go for fit and available players. Hard to get excited over someone who is currently injured and injury prone. Offers us nothing for the near future.

its a year loan mate not a couple of months...

According to Andy Hunter, talks about Gomes cropped up during negotiations over Mina. Getting Mina is the priority.

It doesn't reek of desperation. He's a good player who is available in a position we need. If there's a deal to be done that works, then that's a good thing.

The three months he was out in 2015 was during the Summer so he missed a single game.

Seems like you’re desperate to be negative.
