Massive midfield upgrade if he can stay injury free. Finally we've got players comfortable on the ball and always looking to get the ball forward. Our movement in the final third has been a massive downfall in recent years... Watch the likes of Gomes, Bernard and Richarlison after making a pass, instantly on the move.

Lovely.

Looks like he wants a touch too many at times, but he seems to have wonderful close control and technique. Makes gueye/schneiderlin/Davies look like Sunday league players
He would make a very good example for Dowell to work with. Dowell can crack a shot, but Gomes uses his body so well and his control is amazing. Similar body types.

He looks like the player Ross Barkley should have been for us.

Shhh, give the lad a chance. This sorta talk will have the stands groaning that he’s slowing down play too much, and playing too many risky forward passes before he’s even 10 minutes into his debut.

Yeah similar style for sure, training with players with quality touch balance and control has gotta be good for all our youngsters.

Nah, he's smart with his passing.

Ross was different, he was more of a guy that would go right at guys and score goals. Then he because a guy who wanted to be like Gomes, hold it forever, be the clever playmaker, etc.

The key to me with Gomes is can he win balls and be strong on the defensive end? I know he can move the ball, carry it, control it.

My worry is; are we setting ourselves up for a lack of pace in the middle of the pitch. Surely we won’t play Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson, and Gomes right?
