It's hard with all young players to make that decision, but especially defenders.

If you look at the players 21 or younger on the clubs books at the moment, in or around the first team squad or on loan. Virgina, Kenny, Holgate, Feeney, Robinson, Connolly, Davies, Baningime, Dowell, Onyekuru, Lookman, Vlasic, DCL, Richarlison. Most of these players are not yet ready to be regular starters at a premier league club, but I would wager nearly all of them will be playing in the premier league, or an overseas league of a similar standard, by the time they are 25/26. I'd also be surprised if more than 3 or 4 will still be with us at that age. The rest will have moved on, either because they weren't good enough for us or they wanted regular football which they weren't getting as part of our squad.

Virginia , Henry , Lookman , Vlasic and Ricarlison ( if he isn’t sold for mega bucks ) are the only ones I can see with a future here
Maybe Beni but we haven’t seen enough of him and Gana has 4/5 years left in him

I will be surprised if Gana is still in the team in 2yrs from now. and in 4 or 5 yrs he will be long gone

If Gana is not in the first team in 2 years time it will be because he’s been replaced by a player of a higher standard
From what little I’ve seen that won’t be Beni

In fairness I said in my original post by the time they are 25/26, not 3 years. If all of those are still here by the time they are 25/26 and we, as a club, have progressed to where we want to be, then I will be absolutely delighted. Really.

This is a very telling quote for those who think he might return to Barcelona.

Unless we get a repeat of the class of 92 at United ( Giggs , Beckham , Neville’s ,Scholes , Butt ) I don’t think we will ever see a PL at a high level with that many youngsters from the academy
Even City and Chelsea who dominate youth football don’t promote that many up to the first team

He was playing the sort of football at Valencia as he is for us now,think that he'll be loathe to leave a club where the manager and fans are behind him.Can only see him improving here.
