Unless we get a repeat of the class of 92 at United ( Giggs , Beckham , Neville’s ,Scholes , Butt ) I don’t think we will ever see a PL at a high level with that many youngsters from the academy
Even City and Chelsea who dominate youth football don’t promote that many up to the first team
Of the 3 I mentioned, only one came through the academy. Of the 4 possibles I mentioned, only 1 came through the academy. So don't really get your point.

Pickford
Kenny Holgate Gibson Robinson
Baningime
Vlasic Davies
Dowell Richarlison Lookman
Will be interesting to see in the summer 2 of Lookman / Bernard / Onyekuru competing for the left side...one surely has to go...
Well. In my little world Lookman goes to RBL in January to part fund our purchase of Lozano. Lozano can also play on the right. Our problem of overcrowding on the left solved.;)

I know it’s only a sign of how good our youth set up is but if that team played one game in the PL it would get decimated

Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned academy but in this day and age to get 3/4 regular starters that were at the club as part of the under 21/23 set is extremely rare
But again Richarlison was brought in for the first team (albeit at a young age) as were Vlasic, Onyekuru and arguably Lookman too seeing as I don't think he's played more than a handful of games at U23. So that leaves Baningime, Davies and Virginia. Virginia may be a back up rather than a starter if Pickford is still here. Davies has already played 76 first team games over the last 2 years so you could argue he is already a regular. So that leaves just one more player I'm suggesting will become a first team regular from our youth set up. I don't think that's exactly pushing it.

But put it up against U21 sides around the world and it wouldn't.

Personally think that team would smash any other clubs u21 side and i havent even included players such as DCL, Feeney and Connolly.

I see Lookman as someone who (similarly to Bernard) can play in Sigurssons position, as he showed at both Leipzig and England u21s.

If we look at a squad of 25 players and that is 14 of the players in the squad then we only need another 11 top players -- this saves a fortune in transfer fees which could be spent on 2 really top signings at the least.

This being the Gomes thread...lets say we have a budget of £35mil for CM and thats Gomes' fee, isnt it lucky that we have all of these young players for the squad which will enable us to sign Gomes rather than use the cash for 2 or 3 signings?

At this time if we signed Gomes then we would see a midfield of him Gana and Sigurdsson with Baningime Vlasic and Davies (not to mention Dowell and Lookman who can play centrally) as squad players.

The spine of new players in Mina Gomes and Richarlison would not have been possible if we didnt have the others making up the numbers as wed have to pay out for depth.

It would be good if he got injured or had a run of bad games to keep people sniffing around him.
