How do you know we haven't? No one has a scooby what's going on with transfers because the club have got better in keeping any deals under wraps, which is how every club should be operating. The fact it's getting perenial moaners like you so wound up is just hilarious

Well I’m glad you’re not in charge of the negotiations. This is exactly why Brands has come in, coz the previous clown was throwing ridiculous money around. Just because we’re now being smarter with our money doesn’t mean we don’t have any. If waiting a month saves us £5-10m (plus a load of wages) then I’m all for it - especially for a player who won’t need a bedding in period.
 
I think Silva and Brands both said last season that they want to keep Gomes so I expect this will happen. The way the deals were done last year there were some initial mentions in the press of bids then long periods of radio silence from the club which resulted in much hand wringing on GoT, only for the deals to then be confirmed. From the noises out there (Gomes rejecting West Ham, Spurs ending itnerest) it suggests to me Brands will be negotiating behind the scenes now and Gomes will be announced in the next few weeks.
 

The fella is on holiday and am I right in thinking officially we are still paying him until the end of June? Brands will be talking with Barca and this will all be sorted soon.

Plus we have loads of deadwood to shift on high wages.

This will be the norm for a few seasons too. And the small matter of the stadium build to come.

I remember the Arteta one, people were losing it because we had a clause where we could sign him for £2.5m if we did it before 1st July, when it didn't happen some people really went into meltdown. Think he signed for £2.8m in the end. Mad to think that was 14 years ago, I'm getting so old,.

Anyway, I'm still confident we will get Gomes
