It away games last season and i think he scored at Newcastle. Other than that didn't show for any way games with the exception of Anfield where I thought he put a shift in. Id like to see him do a lot more of that before I call him a great player. And I'd be made up if he comes back from that injury and becomes a great player for us

When he’s good he’s a bit better than average but he has more poor games than good ones, not a fan of his to be honest.

Feel slightly sorry for Silva that he built his side around Gomes and Gbamin and then had to make do with Davies and Schneiderlin.

I felt sorry for him, then Duncan and Carlo got the same group of players performing that he couldnt and suddenly I feel nothing.

Klopp and Guardiola prove they’re are top managers by improving players. Did we honestly think Mane and de Bruyne who flopped at Chelsea would be in the best players in the league when they were signed. I’m not advocating that Ancelotti will turn our players into that calibre of player, however I do expect him to improve each player. If the improvement in DCL, Richarlison, Gomes, Kean, Sidibe, Mina, Gbamin by Ancelotti could see us challenging for the top 6 next year. If they aren’t they will be sold and Ancelotti will bring in the additional quality we need.

I think he will be good under Carlo because let’s face it- the guy is massive and his balance on the ball is incredible. If he can become more composed with his distribution, then we may see him take it to the next level. He has probably been one of our most inconsistent players under Silva and I’d like to see that change.

Mind blown at some comments here. Clearly one of our better players. Clearly should produce more, as should every single member of the squad. Gomes form and return to fitness should be the least of our concerns, what with the glaring problems elsewhere in the squad.

He should thrive under a manager like Carlo

We have missed him massively in both injury stints this season. Look far better when he is playing.

As for Gomes your right half the time he dosnt look bothered for anyone. Ive struggled to name a game were we said wow that Gomes dominated the game. He might have the skills but dosnt do much and he dors go missing at away games. if you think he's world class good for you. But tell me a game were he has really stood out.

He dominated the Derby last season at Anfield. This season he dominated the midfield against wolves and West Ham to name 2 games. He was having a decent game against Tottenham before the incident with Son. He’s a quality player. The only player in midfield who carries the ball with intent. Great touch, strong. Lovely weight of pass. If he had a quality team around him he would shine and it shown last year when he was playing with Gana.

The whole team was awful and we still had enough chances to win that game.

I dont think he dominated those games but that is yr view. He has those qualities that you describe but he needs to be more consistent especially away from home. As you say with more quality players he may become more consistent. Let's hope Carlo has some quality players in mind to buy. I'm.sure all.us blues want our players and the team to kick on Hopefully Gomes will be part of that team
