I think John Ebbrell, who’d be a runner up in a John Ebbrell competition, being compared favourably to Gomes is a new low point for this forum.

John Ebbrell had more commitment in one finger than Gomes has in his whole body.

Gomes perfomance away at Villa is probably the worst in a blue shirt since Glenn Keeley who came on loan for basically one game and we got beat 5-0 by liverpool in 1982.

The shocking aspect to all this is Keeley was a very modest lower league player. Gomes has been at Barcelona and is lauded by many evertonians.

One bad game when he was still carrying an injury. He is consistently our best central midfielder now Gana is not there.

He's quality on the ball, but I think it's become obvious now why no better team came in for him in the summer. Too slow and injury prone to be a regular for an actual decent team.
