Was he really pathetic? In a game we dominated and missed 2 sitters and hit the post. And got into a number of good positions and let down by a final ball. I’m not saying the team were great that night, but we should never have lost that game

He will never be in a midfield like the Trinity. We just don't have that quality of midfielder at the club anymore.
We have not had a decent midfield now for years. And current managers just don't seem to be able to address that.
When we get one decent midfielder onboard, the other two are duds.
Delph and Schniederlin......God help us.
I would like to see Gomes alongside Tom Davies. With Beni getting a few games. And Iwobi making up a midfield four. Siggy from the bench.
We play 4-4-2. But Silva will persist with his stifling 4-2-3-1.
Against everyone. And our midfield will always be over run.
And our lone striker will always be isolated.

Gomes can play. He has something about him.
He just needs energy and outlets around him. Not stagnate and tippy tappy backwards and sideways nonsense. Who coaches our players that?

Yeah he was to be fair mate, he was specifically bad in that game.

Agreed looks unfit.
The skill is there just not sharp enough.
Like the whole Everton team everything is done at an easy pace with no urgency.

He's an outstanding player. The very best of which we can attract at the moment.

He's just inconsistent like 99% of footballers, hence why he doesn't play for a top side, when he's on it like he was away to Liverpool last season he's good enough for the top sides but those matches are pretty rare. I doubt it's mental like some people suggest, his best performance for us came in a high pressure derby.

Don't think the problem is him or Delph, it is the tactics. Marco's slow side-to-side passing style lulls them all asleep. It is hard to play with urgency when your game plan is to play so tepidly.

You cant play Delph and Davies together its too negative.

Gomes has to play...hes the only CM who has the potential to beat spurs midfield.

Playing the 2 Ds would be akin to surrender.

Gomes is more negative than Davies. It isn't even particularly close. I think playing Delph and Gomes is way more problematic in terms of not having anyone to move the ball forward.

Davies has to play imo. Whether at the expense of Gomes or Delph I don't care too much but Gomes inconsistency makes me think he's the one to drop.

Small sample size for Tom but so far he and Gomes are the only midfielders in the squad who can pass forward but unlike Andre, Tom hasn't had any games where he looks like a league 2 player. Yeah I want to see Davies play because I think he can actually link the play and get the ball to Iwobi which is how we open teams up.

The other player who needs to play is Sidibe for the same reasons. We need to have forward passing players in the team. Did you see any consistent line splitting passes from Gomes, Delph and Coleman last night? I know I didn't and imo that is the biggest problem we have.
