Agreed, personally I'd have had Davies in alongside Delph last night for the reasons you mentioned. Gomes has hardly set the world alight this season and Iwobi looks better with the quick interchange passes that he gets from Davies because we move the ball forward quicker which creates space.
I think generally speaking people remember Gomes top level performances such as West Ham and tend to forget the really poor ones that fall in between the top level ones. You can't pick a player hoping for his top performance every week when there's a good chance his performance will instead be pretty poor.

Maybe if Gomes was say Tom Davies age this whole up and down thing would be understandable. But when you're 26 the consistency has to be there or you can't be an automatic first XI player. That's where I am with Gomes. He can't be a first XI player all season if we are going to get eight 9/10s, sixteen 6/10s and eight 3/10s across the season.

Disscusion about Gomes, Davies and Delph.

There is very little between them, You can get away with Gomes/Davies at home v teams that dont press or attack through central midfield much.

Gomes away is a disaster end of. Other than the first half v lpool last year he has been utter rank. Scared, sideways passing, massive liability defensively.

Delph is bang average at everthing but gives our useless centre halfs more protection than Gomes/Davies so should always play away from home.

Gueye was a top 4 centre mid when with us, he is excelling at one of the top clubs in europe now.

Gana's replacement `could' be better than him but to put a figure on it I would say there is a less than 2% chance he will be.

A player that can only play 1 game a week or gets nackered. His not a bad player just a luxury one.
He would of been an ideal replacement for someone like arteta. The league has changed since then, we need someone like doucoure instead of gomes.

Gana is 30 now though mate, players automatically become terrible as soon they have their 30th birthday. So his replacement is always going to be better.

It's interesting this idea that Gomes is maybe not the same player Away from home. Interesting if we also add to the fact that he was a player very low on confidence so if he's a confidence player then he needs his fans to help.
I definitely don't think Gomes - Schneiderlin or Gomes - Delph work together. We need it to be
Gomes- Davies
Delph Davies
or Delph - Iwobi - Davies and play 4-3-3

Agreed. Everyone can see how good gueye is now if they couldn't before, the fact that he has probably been one of the best midfielders in the world this season and could finally take psg to that next stage in UCL I think shows how good he is and is why I feel a bit for Silva because you could never replace that instantly . Shame gbamin was injured because I think gomes and Jp could have been a good combo and who knows where we would be in table if he stayed fit

Until we play a 3 man midfield, everything is just opinion

I really rate Jean Phillipe and would say maybe 5%.

However; if he could be even 75% of what Gana was for us at the end of last season, we would be sitting pretty.

Why do you think we're not playing 4-3-3 ? Do you think Silva's just not confident yet? He might be just nervous because the team aren't playing well, but maybe 4-3-3 will reenergise them. If it's Davies, Delph and Gomes, I think it should be fine, with Richarlison - DCL - Iwobi in the front
The thing I don't understand is why our tactics are not flexible. We have got maybe 4 players in the front 6 who are capable of moving around, and it would be great if our tactics were a bit unpredictable - (for the opposition not for us! )
