At times like this we all look for a scapegoat and someone to blame but this was a freak accident. We´ve seen shocking tackles down the years, think Kevin Nolan on Anichebe, but this wasn´t one of those occasions.

I feel sorry for Son because he´s clearly shaken up and I feel even worse for our lad. All we can is to support him during the long road back.

Sickening that. Wish him a speedy recovery. We can argue about intent and the red card but it was a needless trip that's made Gomes collide with Aurier. A shithouse challenge that's cost a player his season and maybe more.

Exactly. Son doesn't trip him, Gomes rides Aurier's challenge. Son took that opportunity away because he was angry about getting brushed off, tripped him from behind - he was lob-sided and Aurier went through him, breaking his leg/ankle.

I'm a Rangers fan who was watching the Rangers v Hearts league cup semi today while also keeping an eye on your game. I can't even enjoy the Rangers result now after seeing this. The look on the faces around him with hands on heads reminds me of the faces around David Busst some years ago. I hope for the best but fear the worst.

Son doesn't make that wreckless challenge, Gomes doesn't end up with a broken ankle mate. How on earth can Aurier anticipate that??

Aurier looked shaken but Son was absolutely in bits knowing his challenge caused it.

If that is the case you could argue any tackle made is endangering a player, based on what could happen next. Nonsense.

Feel sorry for Gomes and a huge loss to us, but not Sons fault.
He didn’t go for the ball, was wildly late, was high. It was a deliberate foul as retribution, and as a result, he got someone’s leg snapped in half. There’s no way it’s not a red.

Aurier can't anticipate that, however if Gomes wasn't fouled from behind HE could have anticipated Aurier's challenge and rode it. Son caused it willingly - obviously the outcome isn't what he wanted but he caused it nonetheless.
