2019/20 Andre Gomes

Obviously he didn't set out to break his ankle or leg, not many do but it is still a red card all day long. It was a very blatant revenge tackle and if he doesn't act like a kid who has just had his sweets nicked and run like a madman to put his foot in, then Gomes doesn't go down and break his leg/ankle. The injury was caused by his unnecessary actions, end of.

Some people having a go at the ref saying he produced a yellow first until he seen the extent of the injury. I agree with the ref on this occasion although he is a bad ref. The challenge was illegal and if gomes was not hurt then a yellow was suffice. The tackle was not malicious enough to warrant a red but the illegal challenge still resulted in a bad injury which makes Son responsible therefore a red card. Any foul that results in a bad injury should be a red regardless. Son knew what he was doing in bringing Gomes down but no one expected the devastating injury. My argument is that if he didn't purposely foul then Gomes would be OK.

Anyone having a go at Son there needs to get a grip!! It wasnt 2 footed, it wasnt a wild lunge, a high challenge or a hachet job.

Yes he clipped him and yes he may have even been annoyed or frustrated..... or even meant to foul him but it was just that - a foul!

Petty but nothing at all about that was dangerous, it happens multiple times every game and the player just falls. Gomes was unfortunate that he went hurtling into Aurier (who may have also stepped on his foot).

As for anyone giving him abuse on twitter, its an absolute disgrace and hope its not our fans.

Sniff my ball bag.

The horrible rotter has gone in recklessly in a revenge tackle due to an earlier incident with Gomes.

Speedy is out of the question, let's just hope that he can carry on his footballing career because on Hungarian TV they said from the replay his leg bent in 90 degrees.

That's what it looked like to me....its a potential career ender, even if he does come back he won't be the same player sadly....oviedo was never the same, and don't think Coleman has either..

Freak injury I'm sure nobody goes into a tackle with the intention of destroying a players season and potentially career, seeing his foot though in relation to his leg like it had been twisted 90 degrees though can't imagine what kind of pain that brings, hopefully it's just a season ender and not career, but it's another tick on the long growing list of why we're cursed as a team

Nobody should be giving abuse.

It's still a red though whether Son meant it or not. It was reckless and not even an attempt for the ball. As unfortuante as it is, none of it happens if Son doesnt put the player in danger with a dangerous tackle. Doesn't have to be two feet up to be dangerous.

These fouls happen every week in every game!! But none result in a ankle break so nobody says anything. It was a yellow card

The ball was long gone when he lunged in. I’m sure he didn’t want to end his career but it was an irresponsible and reckless lunge

See above.

You are unequivocally wrong. The dirty challenge was intentional, hence the strong regretful reaction on his part. Son, albeit momentarily, still intended harm, and was correspondingly disgusted with himself when he was successful.

I do agree Twitter "abuse" is unwanted and childish.

Yes it was intentional, nobody said it wasnt but it wasnt dangerous, its a bog standard silly challenge you see all the time. Plus the reaction was only when he walked over and seen Gomes' leg

It may have been revenge or he may have wanted tk get one on him but the challenge itself wasnt a bad one.

it was from behind, it was a dangerous tackle
