I think it was more about the signal his signing sent out. Scraping around for freebies who were deemed not good enough for teams considerably worse than us. Don't think anybody could have predicted he'd have had such an immediate impact: he's almost given us more than James did in a whole season, while the attitude difference between them is like night and day. Inspired signing, it has to be said.

I agree, hadn't done much at Palace, but I think that was down to the reason i listed above. Great bit of business. I can't wait until he is putting crosses for DCL.
