I think a lot of it is frustration. Frustration that using the size and power against lesser defenders doesn't work day in and out against better calibre ones. Frustration that maybe all you are cut out to be is a squad player. Frustration perhaps that injuries and lack of form have coincided with your "chance". But frustration does not excuse any insubordination.
Look at Osman, look at Baines, look at Jagielka, look at Pienaar. They have all worked damn hard to get into the side and to be consistent starters, whereas at one time or another, there were serious questions raised about where they would fit or if they were capable. And if he is upset about Cahill being played instead of him, the answer is that Cahill scores goals as a striker, as well as being extraordinarily difficult to play, and he doesn't and isn't.
