Takes time doesn't it. Hard to judge kids. Can take years.

The lad wants it and that's a huge asset. Hopefully he continues to dominate for years to come.

It is and yet large sections of our fan base always seem in a hurry to judge our young players, without factoring in the scope for significant improvements as they get more game time.

That said, I understood the early assessments of DCL for example, but to me Gordon has always looked talented enough to make it.

Will have to see how he turns out over the long term. Remember Rodwell after a season? Barkley after a season? We all thought they were brilliant. I want to see Gordon go on to be a top player with Everton winning us big games and hopefully trophies. Not dipping a level and then moving out to a top 6 club in acrimony.

Hindsight's a wonderful thing. One of the modern game's most decorated managers didn't think Lukaku, de bruyne or Salah were good enough.

My MotM today.

He looks to make something happen when he has the ball.

Though it may not look it in appearance I think he's added physical strength over the past year. He isn't easily knocked off the ball.

He's becoming a really important player for us.

You never know with anyone. Look at Jonjoe he's quite old but he was fantastic today, sometimes it just clicks. He might not make it but I would love it if he does, he clearly has talent scoring 30 yarders for England U21 and in Germany.

DCL always had attributes once he added goals he reached another level.
