Did you just see Gordon?

Thats our standard of young player - all fart and nee shiote

Gordon hasn't scored a single goal for us our fans over rate the lad massively.

Absolute nonsense there was a reason he was anonymous in the Championship last season he isn't good enough.

Game over, there’s no coming back

Hardly fuming.

Just think people need to calm down a bit. It's all a bit over the top. He is still improving, but people saying he's our best player every time he does anything and the best this or the best that. That level of expectation will just become an even bigger stick to beat him with.

Today, the difference between him and Iwobi is that people love 1 and hate the other. They both played well. Reading some of the responses in here you'd think it was like an early Rooney performance.

People have been praising iwobis performance today who think he's usually useless, including myself so you're just gaslighting for some reason?
Is it cos you don't have a clue?

No, it's because I think he has been good, and not the 2nd coming of Messi or Rooney as some would have you believe. He's improving all the time, but our fans just seem to have a habit of making anyone who does anything "The best such and such in the League/World" and then all of a sudden, before you know it, they get built up, have a couple of bad games, and they are the worst.

He still very much seems like a young player trying to find his way to me. He does not have the same authority or responsibility, the extra X factor that made Rooney and Barkley stand out early on. I think that will come once he proves to be a goal threat from distance or creates a goal in open play, but so far, he is very much a hard working player with pace who plays things relatively safe and doesn't take games by the scruff of the neck. Like he is holding something back.

Maybe it's a confidence thing and hopefully it will just click. The idea of him achieving his potential and forming a potent attacking partnership with Gray, Dele and DCL for a combined £3m will almost make up for financial mess of Koemans frankenstein squad of expensive wasters.

He's done as much as Barkley did at the same age.
And are you really criticising him because he's not as good as England and Manchester utds record goal scorer?
You know how ridiculous that sounds?

Better than Barkley in so many ways

I wouldn’t say so… Barkley went stale here and people did over rate him massively , but as a17-19 year old Barkley looked like he was going to be an exceptional player. He just had techniques and qualities that you can’t teach , his trouble was the basic stuff, the bread and butter … he was not able to learn and apply , he couldn’t be improved

I'm not criticising him for not being Rooney. I'm saying let's not build him up and go overboard on what is shaping up to be a decent breakthrough season.

As for having done as much as Barkley, the had very similar starts going off stats, but then Gordon has had a very similar season to Iwobi going off stats as well, which proves stats don't always tell the whole story. I would say Barkley looked a level above that first season. Again, not a criticism of Gordon, just an observation. The comparison is unfair for a couple of reasons, notably they play different positions, and 1 team was riding high on confidence while the other has been quite the opposite. And while Gordon has been 1 of only a few positives, he has also been a part of the team that has performed so badly so often, and has managed to avoid almost all criticism entirely because of his passion.

He has been ok. Not spectacular. He is improving. He has got great potential. When it clicks, it could be something really special. At the moment, he sits on 3 goals and 3 assists. 2 goals have been outrageously fortunate and 2 assists have come direct from set pieces. I think for someone with his ability, that is a middling return at best.

I'm hoping the direction of Lampard will bring the best out of him. But it's funny how few people would accept a similar statement about Tom Davies without leaving a snide remark.

And THAT is what I'm arguing against
