Very true though my friend. I mean Davies still gets lauded by some and Gordon has not done a thing in any game he's featured in yet he doesn't get anywhere near the flack the likes of Rondon has had even Townsend/Gray Would have been ripe for a hammering had they not started the season as brightly as they have - they were slaughtered before a ball had been kicked!

Give him a chance after a few games to judge him and do not be too hasty. The difference between him and Rondon is experience for which he should be showing better - no excuse.

I dont mind Gordon mate but its clear he isn't good enough for this level the lad never does anything incisive when he actually gets on the ball.

Think he'll do well in League One but thats probably his level.

I just find it funny how when he does little people say he needs more game time whereas a half fit Rondon does little he's awful, crap, needs booting, send him back to Wuhan etc.

Bet you were one of the boo boys saying DCL is league one level too a while back.

Repeating what a few people have already said here, but the lad clearly needs a run of games to build back up his confidence. Fact that Benitez is willing to do that is a big help. Another one for the "why Ancelotti was a total bell" like

If we can’t get world beaters, we still need squad depth and cover at a reasonable price. The best way to do that is to bring through youth. It has the added benefit of adding to their value if we decide to sell.

We have actually had an off a lot of really really expensive squad Villa tight players that have been disastrous to the club financial position. Getting players like Gordon time and experience is essential to getting us out of the financial mire we are in.

I don't have any idea what that second paragraph means, but I think we agree.

I think, up to now, the biggest stumbling blocks to Gordon’s development have been questioning Ancelotti as to why he couldn’t get any game time. Ancelotti, in his cool measured way, showed no annoyance, but froze him out from that moment and subsequently sent him on loan to Preston. Unfortunately, the manager who wanted him at Preston was sacked soon after Gordon’s arrival, his face didn’t fit with the new boss, so, he effectively lost half a season of development through no fault of his own.

I am not convinced that he will make it at prem level, but, I have seen enough to think that he has a chance.

Desperate to see him score, was frustratingly frozen out by Carlo. That said, he has to take opportunities with Richarlison out and Iwobi not doing a great deal.
Agree, he was a regular scorer at youth and U-23, has a great shot on him, would love to see him score as that should relax him. He was also good with a free-kick, but deferred to Lucas when Williams brought him down. It looks like players have been encouraged to have a shot this season, so hopefully he will take a chance and get his first goal. The longer a forward player goes without scoring affects their confidence to the point of passing instead of having a shot.

I would be tempted to start him instead of Rondon against United. He's played up top on his own for the u23s so he knows the job. I appreciate its a totally different level but we are going to need every player to be fully fit next week. We will probably spend large periods running round without the ball and any chances we get will be on the counter where you need your striker to have pace.

Think it is what it is with Gordon.
Its good that he is in and around the squad and there is no shame in saying that's probably the best we can see him, unless he really kicks on!
As others have said though, its good to have these lads around and in the squad for the possibility of gaining maximum value out of him if the time comes and he thinks he wants to move on!
That's how we should be using our youth players, we are able to pick 9 subs, its good if we use at least 3 on academy players, even if it is just to raise there profile a little.

Forgot he's only 20. Still time for him to develop and improve. Whether it'll be as a premier league standard player or not is open to debate. Would be great though, we could do with more talent coming through the ranks and developing.

Its one of the great things about being Stoney broke, really hoping to see, the likes of Gordon, Brantwaite and Dobbin get opportunities, blow the dust of our youth options and work at developing lads.

Surely more worthwhile then being a home for the Bernards, Sibides and Cuco's of this world - we would have been better off looking to our own.
