I don't buy all this "he goes down too easy" stuff. Maybe 10 years ago I'd agree but the game has well and truly changed. Pretty much every decent skillful forward buys themselves penalties and freekicks these days. Reeling in defenders is a skill in itself.

If anything, I'd say Gordon is anticipating contact that fraction early. He's doing well to invite the contact but maybe he needs to sharpen his timing there, and not be afraid to get hit.
 
Look how many key moments he was involved in and how little luck we had today

TAA pushed him down just outside the box and should’ve been booked
The first half penalty shout I think momentum took him over, would’ve been a soft pen but very harsh to have been booked for diving imo
Matip threw him to the ground inside the box - stonewall pen. In fact, if it’s not a pen then the referee has bottled booking Gordon a second time so how is it not a pen or a yellow for diving?
TAA tried to cut him in half with a slide tackle and got what should have been at least his second yellow, but was only his first
Got played in one on one from a tight angle on his wrong foot - poor effort, needed to be more composed

Basically, he had their right side on toast all game and should’ve won a pen and caused their RB to get sent off. He also won the ball back a few times and helped support Myko who was our other best player and my MOTM.

Case for a TAA red in that first one outside the box. It was arguably a goal scoring opportunity and he made no attempt at getting the ball.

The first half one was never a penalty. It was a dive, tbf, but how many of those do we see go unpunished in the PL - especially for Liverpool. The Matip one defo was a pen.

I don't think it's a case if it's not a penalty then it's a dive. You can wave away penalties without penalising a dive.

You can, but if he’s giving a yellow for a dive first half then I don’t see much difference between giving him another one in the second instance if he doesn’t think it’s a pen.

The real disgrace in that decision is that VAR didn’t step in. Referees make mistakes, I’m ok with that, but what’s the point in having VAR if it doesn’t step in when even Jamie ‘kin Carragher is calling it stonewall?
 

He’s the same as Iwobi but with more heart. Runs around a lot but offers very little. We can’t defend and don’t create. It’s why we are where we are.
