2022/23 Anthony Gordon

Was reported by respected sources that he's liked by a few.
Hopefully that remains the case because it’ll mean he’s had a good season. A year is a very long time in situations like Gordon’s, you very quickly go from being a raw but exciting prospect to being a bit of a nobody if you don’t produce the goods so if the big boys are going to come sniffing again I’d imagine he’ll have to have actually kicked on a bit which would be great.

“Too many” as in one. Very debatable whether they’d actually still be interested too seeing as they walked away as soon as we demanded over £40m. He has done nothing at all to put himself in the shop window so far this season.

He hadnt done much up to that point either.

And we had an injury to DCL as well mate. We were very thin on the ground. You can see why the manager said no way.

We dont know, but apparently they bid over 40m. I sense a deal gets worked out. Pure speculation on my part, but just my feeling. Probably some confirmation bias on my part.

I think he will go mate. Lampard will keep improving him, and someone will make an offer. Too many "big" teams like him.

But for us, at the end of a window, with no strikers, we were never going to let him go "cheaply".

He hasn't improved at all this season unfortunately. He's lucky a lot of the other players have stepped up as he hasn't performed as a 40m + player should.

His goal return has been better. It's a small sample though.

I'm not sure how a 40m player performs in this market. Forest signed one for 45m, and he hasnt scored a single goal yet.

Whoever he's listening to needs to get out of his ear hole.
He probably not on 'Big' money...£20k (?)
Needs to be told, there you go - £40k for 4 yrs starting today, take it or leave it, start playing and come back in 18mths with a valid case for another rise.
Or
If you don't like it, again - start playing well enough to get a move to somebody  Will who give you £100k.

Agents - more Insidious and damaging to the game than VAR, diving and sky put together

Lad is learning the dirty sides of the game, media leaks, triggering fans opinions about you.

That said his agent, will be keeping his profile alive in the market and cultivating the unsettled contract situation.

She can be a dirtier game off the field then on it.

All sad in a way.

Is there any actual evidence to say the player evens wants to sign a new contract here? Can't exactly blame the agent if the player has asked to leave the club (either last summer or in next window). For all we know he may be refusing to sign any new contract, or wants specific release clauses. If all he wanted to do was play for Everton, he'd have surely signed a new deal months ago.

This is where stats annoy the crap out of me and how they can disillusion people.

Gordon has 2 in 9 games, so he is on course for about 8 goals for the season. (an improvement on his 4 last season)

Would we be happy if Gordon gets his predicted 8 goals but performed in the same way he has for the first quarter of the season?
He has been shocking for 5-6 of them games (almost non existent) but the 'stats' would say he has improved! He hasn't improved one bit IMO

Still think there's far too much talent around to be turning down big offers for players not yet hitting the level that should command such a fee. I think he's been better this year, but not to that level and now we've got to give him silly wages to get a new deal done. Poor management of the squad for me.

Really? When? In what way?

Apart from the 2 games he scored in i cant think of anything else where he has contributed to the attacking 3rd.

He's been a passenger in most games

On course for 8 ish isnt he? That is quite significant improvement.
