2022/23 Anthony Gordon

His crossing is still just hit and hope, but he was better today than his recent games. Got stuck in, kept working, got his goal as a result. I’d like to see more still, but he was positive today. Honestly, pretty much everyone was bar Gray who I think could’ve done much better.

I was worried the contract situation got to his head recently. But his all round performance today was very good. Back to his hardworking style. Make good runs, combine well with teammates.

His second goal was not a fluke. A Forward would normally keep running to attack the post. Tap ins are a bit underrated and sometimes yes you need luck.
The luck part was GK punched to that path and their CB switched off. But at the same time Gordon created that luck by getting back onside, slowed down & keep a bit of a distance (to reduce his threat "presence"), observed Mykolenko, and timed his run for that tap in.

Still lots of work to do for me.

Needs to be able to read the game better, and just be more direct.

Did well for his goal, a sign of what happens when he actually anticipates what will happen instead of waiting for it.

But won 3-0, can’t really be on anyone’s case, can I?

He beat Mitchell every time he got the ball, he was excellent.

Contributed well defensively and could have had another with that great strike in the first half, that was such a sharp change of direction and a clean strike of his left foot, could bag a couple of goals like that this year.

Great reaction to his suspension and poor performance against Newcastle.

He’s a great prospect for us and we should be so lucky to have an academy prospect like him not just with ability but with lightning pace and a bit of snark

That Mitchell is no slouch and he was leaving him for dead
