If he is staying, for me he does not need a new contract considering he has years to go on one he has, we have to stop giving new contracts to players, with years left on current contracts based of one ok season

The lad is only on £10k a week though. Regardless of whether or not you think he's amazing, a regular first team player in the PL earns more than that on average. Bump up his salary, give him that little bit more motivation to stay. At least then he can't easily be lured by bigger wages elsewhere. You have to protect your assets, even if we sell him next window. Just adds to his value at the end of the day.

Think it was pretty clear from Lampard's comment at the time mate - the red line is a time beyond which they will not sell as he wants to have certainty about the squad he'll be dealing with. Was deffo a time thing as it was presented.
