I was at that game mate and yeah he was very good,calm and assured,played Agbonlohor very well,I thought we'd unearthed a centre back for the next few years,we played City the following midweek he got dropped and I thought Moyes had lost the plot,he played Hibbert at Centre Back v Dzeko and it worked we won,there was no way back then for Shane unfortunately.

To be fair, as I understand it the club didn't want him to go and offered him a new contract but he left in pursuit of first team football.

If only the injuries at centre back had happened before he left

I said at the time it was wrong to let Duffy go but the overall opinion on here was that he was not up to it. AS you say look a t us now. Could have been far more use than Alcaraz and Distin.
