Hence why we have bought their Manager, coaching staff, striker and defender...we want to be just like them...

TBF to Martinez the 1 in 10 time his game plan worked it worked well. Last season they won at goddison,WHl, Wemberly and should have won countless over games

Think he'll be a good signing, and more reliable than Johnny. Be cheaper wages wise, and happy to be 3rd choice. And I believe that when called upon to play, will be sound and I think playing alongside a good CB in either Jags or Distin, will bring the best out of him.

You have to wonder where exactly the problems were with Wigan. Not the manager (Martinez) obviously because he's going to make us better, not the central defender (Alcaraz) he's going to improve us, not the goalkeeper (Robles) he'll improve us, not the main striker (Kone), not the second striker (Di Santo), not the defensive midfielder (McCarthy), not the winger (McManaman) and not the central midfielder (McArthur). Given that this forum assurers that all these players would improve the 6th best team in the league and would do better in a better team, you can only assume that the remaining 4 players must be actively working against them.

This is what I've been thinking. Scary thing is, Martinez seems to believe he had a great team (both on and off the pitch) who were doing everything right but were unlucky. To the impartial observer, that was clearly not the case as they got relegated...it does worry me a little bit

Everton are set to seal the signing of Paraguayan international defender Antolin Alcaraz.

The 30-year-old defender is a free agent having left Wigan Athletic at the end of the season when his contract expired.

New Everton boss Roberto Martinez has already raided his former club this week to sign Arouna Kone, and now he has moved for another of his former charges in the shape of Alcaraz.

Sky Sports understands the central defender has agreed a two-year deal with the Toffees and is set to sign on at Goodison Park after a medical, which is due to take place on Tuesday.

Alcaraz and Kone could both be joined by another former team-mate as Sky Sports understands that goalkeeper Joel Robles, who was on loan at Wigan last season from Atletico Madrid, is also set for talks with Everton.
