Antolin Alcaraz

Alcaraz is a great composed centre half who is massively better than either Jags or Distin on the ball and quite probably Heitinga. He's commanding in the air yet prone to getting caught out but seemed to improve on that massively before his injury. Never watched him though.

As it happens I think he's a very handy CB when fit. Unfortunately can't see that being often!

Looks to be a bit of a Gibson style signing, as in it looks like he'll do a job when on the pitch, but it remains to be seen how often that will be.

Credit where credit is due, he played a blinder having not kicked a ball all season and to come back in a game like that where Southampton never took the foot off the gas, really well played!.

Absolutely class today. Great with the ball at his feet and didn't put a foot wrong defensively. Made some great blocks too.

The biggest compliment you can give him is to say that we didn't miss Jagielka.

I was really impressed with him today to be honest. He was winning everything in the box and getting stuck in as if he hadn't been out for months. Very composed on the ball and played a lovely one into the channels from our own half. He seemed to be communicating a lot and organizing the defense which is nice to see from a fella coming into a new team this late in the season.

Impressive debut. Doesn't look fit but got through today on his talent. Good depth player for us..

Missed his leadership. But as you say, Antolin was a very good replacement.
