Not a signing that excites me but then neither did the signing of Gray or Townsend.

A loan that will fill out the squad for the second half of the season and a loan that may allow a player like Iwobi to leave.

No obligation to buy , I don't see a downside.

Dave Thomas was a winger mate, I don't think that kind of player exists anymore. Today they are more of an inside forward.

I'm trying to understand how i'd explain the reason behind this move.

But I just don't understand what the point is. We have so many other problems in the team, I just don't see how this improves anything.

We have defenders who can't defend, central midfielders that can't control the midfield...

We DO have players who can come from out wide and create or score goals!

Unless Benitez is going to a Moyes styled Arnautovic transformation on him, I'm just not seeing it.

I agree with another poster, who says it is to grease some wheels elsewhere. A Stuart Storer style signing, if you will.

This seems like waste of a loan fee, lets hope he surprises us.

I think we have other positions on the pitch that desperately need addressing..Mina is the only real quality centre back we have. But, being made of jelly is leading to far too many injuries. Keane and Holgate are the Laurel and Hardy of the Prem. Branflake isnt ready to throw in full time. Surely, our Spanish overlord can see this? We NEED a strong commanding centre half ffs

Now I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve seen him El Ghazi play.

But let’s be honest signing a player (squad player) that isn’t good enough for Aston Villa’s first 11, to now come and be good enough most probably for our first 11. Just shows how far we have fallen now under Benitez. I don’t know what he’s trying to do, or what’s going on. Such and underwhelming signing. This is so frustrating.

Personally, I'm hoping for more of the chaotic van der Meyde / Royston Drenthe end of the Dutch disaster spectrum than the Davy Klassen anaemic end.

The decoy run by Klassen, against Stoke, first game of the season when Rooney scored the winner, was a thing of beauty.
