We've lost by 3 clear goals 4 times in 18 league games teams hardly have to work to beat us at all. I don't think it's because of them doning tools to be fair i think it's because we're set up shambolically in pretty much every game we play.
I agree in away, the players are trying and giving 90 minutes, just at times our 90 minutes hasnt been very good

This is one positive though right now, the players have never once looked like downing tools, playing bad yes and getting beat but downing tools no, every game we have lost we have made the opponent work for it, the amount of second half turn a rounds and points gained from a losing position show this.

The Wolves game they downed tools in the first half

The Palace game they downed tools in the first half

The Watford game we got ran off the pitch by a team who were hungrier. They scored 4 in the last 12 minutes or something ridiculous because we ran out of steam.

The Brighton game we weren't at the races for 50-55 mins

The West Ham game was extremely lethargic, although could easily have been a draw if we could defend set plays

But the idea that we've given our all every week is clearly not true. We have only played for 30 or 40 mins in a lot of games this season. Even last Saturday was the same. We were terrible for the first 20 minutes, then settled, then finished terribly again in the last 20. It was only in extra time we got a better grip of the game.

You need to play for close to 90 minutes every week in this league. Even games we won early in the season we only performed in spells. That only works so many times in this league and we've been found out.

Tell you what Comedy Carlin, we didn't half make the rs work for their 4-1 win and did you see the Watford lads after that flukey 5-2 win we took them right to the wire in? They couldn't believe they just about scraped that win as we were right in it up to the 95th minute.

Yeah well thankfully Lucas has gone who was a disgrace in both those games.

Nice to see some level headed discussion here about wanting the club to get worse just to see Benitez squirm. Definitely got the priorities right. Who cares about the club? Just make Benitez look as bad as possible ain't it? Maybe hope that Everton keeps losing just to say how terrible Benitez is too? *clap clap clap*

To be fair its more than likely going to end up that way regardless.

Brentford away was one of the most phoned in, pathetic displays I’ve ever seen. Had 70 minutes against a crap team to try and get an equaliser and just strolled about waiting for the game to end. Didn’t look like scoring once after they went ahead, I turned it off with 10 minutes to go because I knew it was finishing 1-0.

Flip I completely forgot about that one lol

It was the worst of the lot. Absolutely no urgency from anyone on the park to get back into the game. We may as well have shook hands after we went behind.

Nice in theory but there isn't really much to be positive about. I reckon most fans felt that way in August regardless of the situation but that feels like years ago now.
I'm quite positive with the transfer window. I like that the club has gotten deals done early. I like that the club is now smarter in the kind of players coming in. It seems like there is a plan. I like the emphasis on getting players who are hungry and willing to work hard. I like that despite FFP, the squad seems to be improved.

That being said, many more changes are still required. I see some positives on the field in terms of quality and determination even though results have been poor. I am positive it will get better. I am positive another 1 or 2 good windows and the club can make a push for Europe. I can see plenty of positives. ?

I keep seeing this narrative. It's not really true. The only reason we have replaced our left back with a younger model is because he fell out with the manager. There was no plan involved (unless he was looking to constructively get rid of him...).

I just don't think its ever going to work with the current man in charge, never have done for numerous reasons. My major hope is that he leaves us with some decent players when he does inevitably go.

Against Wolves it was comical how bad we were in that first half

They destroyed us and the players only woke up in the second half

Thats my point, if they downed tools it would be 90 minutes of dross like we often seen last season, several games we have gone in at half time down and won, look at Arsenal for example, if the player were downing tools we wouldnt of won that
